Urban Alliance: Making Noise Campaign
Posted on: March 06, 2013
On Friday March 1st and Saturday March 2nd, the Urban Alliance on Race Relations (UARR) hosted a Community Conference on Gender-based Violence. Deemed "Learn.Act.Heal", the Conference included workshop topics addressing the intersectionalities of Gender-based Violence with Media Accountability, policing, Transphobia and Homophobia, and working with Men. Participants also experienced self-care activities such as acupuncture, yoga, meditation and massage. The Conference was a wrap up of a 3-year project funded by Status of Women Canada and Trillium to capture youth experience of Gender Violence through Media creation. On Friday evening, youth participants shared their experience through spoken word, drama and musical performances. A showcase of art creation were also present. A sold out affair, UARR is proud to collaborate with community organizations to Make Noise! on Gender-based Violence prevention. WYD Media proudly completed printing projects for Urban Alliance in support of their cause.
